Who am I?
I was like a lot of kids who just loved to write. From a young age, I wrote stories about just about everything. Growing up in a low socio-economic, single-parent household, my love of books — along with horses and, eventually, aviation — became my escape from isolation, bullying, and abuse.
In Year 9 at secondary college, my weekly journal helped me pass the year and progress to senior school. My English teacher, Mrs Williams, told me that one day I would be published — a belief I’ve held onto my entire life.
Of course, like many people, writing took a back seat for a while. My passion shifted to aviation, and I earned my pilot’s licence at 17 — before I even learned to drive. It was through flying that I met my husband and unexpectedly found myself in a career in communications and engagement.
After many years in the field and raising our two children, I found myself wondering what’s next? That’s when I decided to pursue something I once thought unattainable: going to university.
Along the way, I’ve written for the Australian Pole Dancer’s Magazine and Flight Safety Australia. I’ve also written several poems and am now working on my first novel.
